I have, for a long time, been fascinated and captivated by stained glass, initially from its use to create stained glass panels and more recently, the creation of smaller objects using the copper foiling method. Redundancy 2 years ago has allowed me to develop my activity in this craft.
Active participation in glass related crafts began with painting onto glass using an outliner and glass paint which I still actively use to create vases.
I took up copper foiling about 4 years ago and more recently, leading, with the panel seen here, which is a copy of a panel in the Glass from the Past Studio, being the latest creation.
My inspiration often comes from looking at a piece of glass and thinking about what I could use it for, an example of which is this panel, as I thought the green/blue glass looked like the sea and having purchased it, realised it would enhance this piece of work.
Although it may be considered 'cheating', I also use stained glass overlay film to create mirrors that have the appearance of stained glass but at a much lower cost and with improved structural rigidity.
Other examples of my work can be seen on my website; www.abitofglass.co.uk

Lorna Johnston
My name is Lorna Johnston I have been making jewellery for about eight years or so now and making my own beads for about two years . I love making sculptural beads and am constantly trying new ideas and designs. You can find some of my beads at https://www.etsy.com/shop/pinkbluesky .
There are so many colours, reactions, styles and shapes that you can achieve by making glass beads, such that I will never tire of experimenting with glass. I look forward to meeting people at the Glassfest and know its going to be a really interesting fun day.

Gideon Feldman - Living Room Glass
I have been interested in light and colour for many years, starting out my working life as a lighting technician in theatre. An injury meant I was no longer able to continue with that work, however the play and change of colour in light continued to be of great interest to me. I have had a love of stained glass for a long time and 18 months ago started tentative steps to teach myself. I'm influenced by the Arts and Crafts movement and Art Deco but try and feed in my own (all be it naive) style.

Phil Atrill
Glass artist Phil Atrill was born in Plymouth, 1972. He produces a variety of work from fluid sculptural pieces to unique vessels and production items.
My starting point for this body of work was horizons and how the light changes in different weather conditions. From sunrise to sunset, to stormy sky’s and clear sunny summer days, each moment is different. Using colour to suggest these moods, I have tried to capture this movement and moments in time. Making each group of pieces unique to a certain place and moment in time.
The latest group of pieces,’ Horizon Curve’, combines these elements and moves the
interaction of the forms a stage further. The strong graduation of colour enhances the fluid forms and the interaction between the pieces.

JANET EVANS along with sisters Sue and Joan make fused glass creating a range of items including plates, bowls and jewellery, plus sun catchers and Christmas decorations. Our speciality is using copper wire to produce unique pieces of jewellery and art glass. Janet is a lacemaking tutor at Barleylands and with encouragement from Caroline Weidman from Glass From The Past experimented with lace, making it in different materials to see if it could be fused into glass. This required specialist knowledge on how to adapt lacemaking techniques. The best results were achieved using copper wire as the thread. Janet entered the Warm Glass UK 2010 competition and won 1st Prize (newcomers) with’ Branching Out’. Janet enjoys trying to stretch the boundaries of lacemaking to make it appealing to a wider audience and it gives lace a modern twist.

Having worked with a number of mediums in the past, I am new to glass fusing, but have found it fascinating and adsorbing. I particularly like to create beach hut and boat pictures, as well as novelty items and jewellery.

I love working with and teaching Precious Metal Clays, but more recently I was introduced to Lamp working and I was hooked, I have been doing Lamp work since February this year and have gradually found my niche in creating Goddess Beads and Torso's. You never really know what the flame and glass will create . Its an amazing craft .

The piece of work that I would like to feature as one of my favourites is a fused picture of two Koi carp swimming amongst glistening aventurine green lily pads. This piece I have called 'A tranquil moment'. The inspiration for this piece was my parents garden pond which has several beautiful large Koi. I remember my dad digging the pond out himself in the garden which he lined with fibreglass. The Koi carp are made up of several layers of carefully positioned and glued pieces of confetti glass in bright orange and white of varying thickness. This process is fiddly as when the glue is wet the small pieces of confetti glass slide about so you can only work on a section at a time. I will be demonstrating this technique at the event along with some other pieces. I have enjoyed making pictures and jewellery in fused glass as a hobby for almost 5 years now. 'I love the way colour and light interact'. I am currently experimenting with copper foiling.

Marija Seager
My name is Marija Seager and I have been working in both Mosaics and Stained glass
for 10 years. I have had no formal education in art, but have attended many courses and workshops to get where I am today and what was a hobby has now become a passion. I hold Mosaicing classes at ‘Glass From The Past’ at Barleylands.
This is a picture of Polly. It was my last external mosaic and is the result of a two
day master class. Polly lives on the fence in my garden, brightening up the dullest of days. Much of my work is of quirky animals in a free style form. I hope that you enjoy them as much as I enjoyed making them.

Since I started working with glass about eight years ago I have strived to develop and work with different techniques producing work for interior and exterior display. Much of my recent larger work has been in making sculptural objects for the garden using a variety of materials including glass, metal, stone etc.
I have also been experimenting and developing the technique of fusing photo images into glass which I will be demonstrating at the Glass Fest. www.pjfglass.me.uk
